I could not figure out how to wright what Mary told me about her husband Patrick so I am copying her words. “We are overwhelmed with gratitude for all the prayers and loving support that has been expressed over these last few weeks. You have all been so kind asking about Patrick, I just thought I’d give you an update. This has been quite the roller coaster ride. As you know, Patrick was scheduled to have brain surgery on February 16. They were going to do a carotid artery bypass and access through his skull to do it. Last Friday I had to take him to the ER because he had a severe headache, confusion and muscle weakness. They admitted him here at Auburn Faith Hospital. They did a CT scan. The CT scan showed no new brain event (very good news) But the more incredible thing was that his carotid artery that one month ago was 100% occluded was now flowing freely. Something no doctor here has ever seen. They believe this rush of blood to his brain was what was causing the headache. The confusion and his ability to put together words worsened over the next few days. He started running a fever around 102. On Sunday evening the culture from the urine sample that they took when he was admitted, came back showing a UTI. They put him on IV antibiotics. Within 12 hours he was seeming like his old self again. Confusion was still intermittent but not as severe. The doctor wanted to rule out seizure disorder so they transferred him last night at 9:30 PM to Sutter in Sacramento. Yesterday morning, I put a call into his cardiologist , his neurosurgeon and his neuro radiologist to see if he still needed brain surgery. I am so happy to tell you that the doctors all agree that Patrick no longer needs brain surgery. They are going to do a 24 hour EEG to rule out seizure disorder. So, I am expecting him to be released on Wednesday at the earliest.”
